Pelleve Q & A

How does Pellevé work?

Pellevé delivers radiofrequency energy to deep tissue, stimulating the production of new collagen over the weeks and months following treatment. This new collagen helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines while producing firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

Pellevé can be used to help smooth out eyelid wrinkles and crow’s feet and diminish smile lines and other wrinkles around your mouth. The system’s radiofrequency ablation feature can be used to help remove spider veins, the small, red or blue web-like veins that are commonly found along the nose or cheeks.

Is Pellevé FDA-approved?

Yes. Pellevé was cleared by the FDA for the treatment of facial wrinkles in 2009.

Will the Pellevé treatment hurt?

The treatment, which usually takes 30-60 minutes, is virtually painless and doesn’t require any anesthesia at all. In fact, most patients describe the sensation as relaxing, similar to a warm massage.

How can patients prepare for Pellevé treatment?

There’s no preparation required before your Pellevé treatment. The only instructions are to drink plenty of water before your appointment and avoid wearing makeup to your visit.

Is there downtime required after Pellevé?

Because Pellevé is non-invasive and safe, there’s no recovery time following the procedure. Some patients experience slight swelling in the 48 hours following their treatment, but makeup can be applied right away to ensure you don’t miss a beat in your busy schedule. Long-term sunscreen use is an important aspect of skin protection and maintenance of your results.

How many Pellevé treatments will it take to achieve desired results?

The number of treatments required depends on the condition of your skin and your personal treatment goals. Most patients see results after just one treatment, but require an average of three treatments to achieve the results they want. Dr. Karu can help you determine the best treatment plan.

How long after the treatment will I see results?

Sometimes the initial swelling and fullness may seem like results from the procedure. However, actual results come from the body’s natural healing process and occur over a period of several months.

Who is eligible for Pellevé treatment?

Pellevé is safe for nearly everyone, which means that anyone who has concerns about the firmness and tightness of their skin is likely a strong candidate for the procedure. You can schedule a free consultation to learn more about your eligibility for safe, non-invasive Pellevé treatment.
